Youth Holy Hour
Youth Holy Hour for all high school and middle school students! Come check it out!
It's time for prayer, praise and worship, and reflection.

I know - I know... You don't have "time" for praying for a WHOLE HOUR - UGH!!!!!  hahaha! But it's one of those things that once you are there, you realized how much you needed it, how much better you feel, and how you have a sense of renewal!

Service Opportunities

Service provides us with opportunities to live out our faith by serving others:

• in our parish (helping the children's religious education, being a Lector or Eucharistic Minister at Teen Ministered Masses, etc.)

• in our community (F.I.S.H. Food Pantry, Feed My Starving Children, Ronald McDonald House etc.)

• and in the country (through Mission Trips).

Mission Trip 2017 to
Memphis, TN

We are planning another great mission trip this year!

The mission trips are with Catholic Heart Work Camp (www.heartworkcamp.com).  This is the same organization that St. Catherine's used the last eight summers with great results.  CHWC has a very good reputation and has been serving community nationwide for over 25 years.  It is a Catholic based group that offers quality service camps, serves people in need, and spiritually enriches the lives of Workcamp participants.  Worksites may include projects such as: painting, yard work, indoor/outdoor clean-up, home maintenance and repair on existing homes, neighborhood revitalization, helping with children at daycare centers/boys and girls clubs for low income families, helping at centers that distribute food to the needy, and, above all, restoring hope to those who have none.

Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Spots will continued to be filled until December 1, 2016. After that date, we will release any unfilled spots back to CHWC.

For additional information visit Catholic Heart Work Camp's website at: www.heartworkcamp.org

Camp WOW High School Counselors

While the warmth and fun of the summer months seems light years away, it is nevertheless time for us to begin planning for the 21st annual Camp WOW on

Friday, June 23 through Mon., June 26, 2017.

Camp WOW is a four day middle school summer camp for students from several local area parishes including St. Mary’s in Sycamore, St. Catherine of Sienna in Dundee and Our Lady of the Wayside in Arlington Heights. It is the joint effort of these participating parishes that makes our camp so successful! More specifically, it is the leadership and guidance provided by the high school camp counselors that makes camp both a significant social and spiritual experience for the middle school students. Therefore, it is at this time that we are beginning the volunteer camp counselor recruitment, interview, and selection process.

For your information, below we have listed some of the criteria we will use as we interview, discern, and select counselors for the 2016 Camp WOW. Specifically, we will focus on:

A student’s ability to work within a group;

A steady pattern of involvement in spiritual activities including praying, reading of scripture, attending Mass every Sunday, and participation in Reconciliation;

Active involvement in parish youth ministry events;

Having previous retreat and/or camp experience;

A student’s ability to connect with and minister to middle school students; and

Age-appropriate maturity and emotional/spiritual health.

Applications are available under "Forms" as well as in the

Youth Ministry Office on December 1st, 2016.

Steubenville Youth Conference
                  “The music was awesome!”

        “This weekend changed my life.”

“The best part was Eucharistic Adoration”.

“I am bringing all my friends next year.”

“My parents signed me up without telling me and

 I was not happy but now I am really glad I went.”

 “The speakers inspired me to really work on my relationship with God:”

This doesn’t sound like your typical teen response to a “church” event but these are just a few of the statements from teens who attended the Steubenville Youth Conference.

This year we will be attending the Franciscan University’s Steubenville Conference in Kenosha, WI on Friday, July 21 through Sunday, July 23, 2017. We hope to be able to accommodate all current 8th grade students through seniors who wish to attend. We will be traveling on a coach bus and staying at a local hotel.

Lack of funds should not be a reason to miss out on this great opportunity.
Please contact me, if this is a concern for your family.

Peer Ministry Team

Peer Ministry Team (PMT) is a high school youth ministry program for students (sophomore-senior) interested in serving, leading, and supporting their peers as they develop a deeper experience of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. Warning: PMT may change your life!
